Rich in historical significance, visitors will be able to explore the site of a 18th century cemetery, the Revolutionary War Battle of Spencer’s Ordinary and recreated cabins showing on the nation’s earliest Free Black Settlements in America. In addition to being surrounded by history, the park features two miles of hiking trails and more than 20 miles of some of the best mountain biking trails in the region. After your outdoor adventure, be sure to swing by the brand new visitor center and catch up on all the facts of the park.
Go Ape Treetop Junior – NEW for 2013 – for adventurers 3’3″ and taller
Go Ape Treetop Junior will allow adventurers younger than 10 to enjoy the treetops at Freedom Park! Treetop Junior is the first Go Ape course in the United States designed and built for those young adventurers in your tribe to enjoy. The course utilizes an easy to use safety system that will keep your youngster safe no matter the obstacles or challenge they come across. Made up of 20 obstacles and 2 zip lines, Treetop Junior will provide a 1 to 1.5 hr experience that no chimp, baboon or gorilla will soon forget!

Go Ape Treetop Adventure – for those 10 yrs old and up and 4’7″ and taller
Voted #1 Outdoor Adventure for the Eastern region of Virginia by readers of Virginia Living Magazine, Go Ape Freedom Park is one of our biggest treetop adventure courses yet. The course consists of numerous rope ladders, 37 new and exciting crossings to include the Trapeze, Wobbly Ladder, Big U and Spider’s Web, 2 tarzan swings and 5 zip lines. There are 5 individual sections within the course, each section taking you higher into the forest canopy and finishing with a zip line more exciting than the previous one! Zip Line #5, the grand finale to the course, is a mammoth 600 foot ride!

From Colonial Williamsburg Beginning at the Colonial Williamsburg Vistor Center, turn right onto State Route 132Y / Visitor Center Drive and continue for .3 miles. Make a sharp left onto VA-132 South and continue for .5 miles. Then turn right onto Lafayette Street and drive for .9 miles. Lafayette Street will become Monticello Ave, continue on Monticello Ave for 1.2 miles. Turn right onto Ironbound Rd / State Route 615 and drive for .9 miles. Ironbound Rd will become Longhill Connector Road, continue on Longhill Connector Road for .8 miles. Continue straight onto Virginia 612 N/Longhill Road for 3.3 miles. After driving for 3.3 miles, Longhill Road will end, intersecting at Centerville Road. Drive across Centerville Road and travel into the park until you reach the visitor center. Go Ape will be in the woods across from the visitor center. You can park in any of the spaces in front of the Go Ape cabin.
From Richmond, VA and points west Travel on I-64 east towards Williamsburg. Take exit 234A to merge onto VA-199E/Humelsine Pkwy E/Newman Rd/State Route 646 toward Lightfoot. Continue to follow VA-199 E/Humelsine Pkwy E. Take the VA-612/Longhill Road exit. Turn right onto VA 612/ Longhill Road. Follow Longhill rd all the way to Centerville Road and go straight into Freedom Park. Travel into the park until you reach the visitor center. Go Ape will be in the woods across from the visitor center. You can park in any of the spaces in front of the Go Ape cabin.
From Norfolk, VA and points east Travel on I-64 West towards Williamsburg. Take exit 234A to merge onto VA-199E/Humelsine Pkwy E/Newman Rd/State Route 646 toward Lightfoot. Continue to follow VA-199 E/Humelsine Pkwy E. Take the VA-612/Longhill Road exit. Turn right onto VA 612/ Longhill Road.
